Snow
Snow is a novel by Orhan Pamuk set in the city of Kars, Turkey. The main character is Ka, a poet who returns to Turkey after political exile. He comes on a journalistic mission: to investigate a wave of suicides among religious girls who are forbidden to wear the hijab.
The novel explores the tensions between secularism and Islam, Turkish cultural identity, and local political conflict. Snow serves as a crucial symbol: Ka's uncertainty, isolation, and inner transformation.
