<note>Humanity is indebted to the Arabian prophet of mercy and compassion, Muhammad Sallalluhu alayhi wa sallam for his sterling contribution to every sphere of human existence. One such sphere was that of education. The effectiveness of his teaching methods can be gauged from the tremendous impact he had on his companions. He not only inspired confidence in them but through his noble personality and teachings won over the hearts and minds of even his enemies and adversaries. His methods incorporated analogies, similes, anecdotes, diagrams, interactive dialogue, humour, repetition, continuous evaluation, physical contact, gestures, and customisation, amongst others. An analysis of his contribution to the field of education and learning leaves one fascinated as he was unlettered, yet could rightly be called the perfect teacher.

This is a revised English translation of the outstanding compilation of the great Syrian Hanafi jurist Sheikh Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah. His masterpiece, Al-Rasul al-Mu'allim, testifies to his in-depth research and superior scholarship.</note>
